Volunteering Experiences

Speaker

Academy Of Software Engineering, Department of Education, NYC, Sep 2014

On the first day of the school, after summer break, I talked about Software Engineering, Programming and provided the aspiring young students a perspective on the incredible things one can build with software and technology. I provided them a direction on how to achieve & align themselves to learn and do what they love and become future creators of amazing technology, rather than being a technology consumer. The interest and enthusiasm that I saw in them was out of bounds. I plan to engage more deeply into events and workshops. My mission is to create great software engineers (boys and girls alike).

Force for Good, Technology Mentor / Lead

Hands On Network, Sep 2014 – May 2015

As a part of the annual Force for Good program, we help non profit organizations solve their business problems with technology. We helped Hands On Central Ohio in creating a technology product that allows it to expand its outreach to a much wider area providing opportunities for them to reach and help more people needing their service. It was challenging being a technology manager and mentor to an awesome team of young technologists. There have been a lot of tough technical problems that the team faced and my role involved helped them get through those challenges. I helped the team with system architecture, design and infrastructure as well as on going technical assistance to the them.

Technology Mentor

Per Scholas, IT, Oct 2014 – Apr 2015

It's my mission to help create exceptional software engineers and what better opportunity could one get than to mentor young aspiring women who want to succeed in technology. I am also very interested in seeing the participation of Women In Technology and Per Scholas IT is just about the right institution to partner with and mentor candidates towards a successful career in IT. As a part of this initiative, I am devoting my time, training and mentoring candidates, so that they can be next generation creators of technology and awesomeness.

Application Reviewer

National Center For Women In IT (NCWIT), Nov 2013 and Nov 2014

NCWIT is all about aspirations of young women in computing and technology. As a reviewer and a volunteer you devote your time towards the cause. Last month, for the NCWIT awards, I reviewed applications of various participants. It is really impressive to see how those young girls use their skills in technology and computing.
